Heavy Equipment Rentals
Makkinga Contracting provides operated heavy equipment rentals throughout Northwestern Ontario. Our large fleet of equipment is maintained and ready to work in case of emergencies or last minute needs of our clients. We own a variety of manufacturer brands including Insley, Caterpillar, John Deere, Hitachi, Link-belt Volvo and Hyundai. All of our operators are fully trained to run our machinery and have many years of on-site experience.

Hydraulic Excavators
Currently we own over 30 hydraulic excavators with operating weights ranging from 3,500 to 135,000 pounds. Although these machines are mainly used for our contracts throughout the year; they are also available for operated rentals.
Hydraulic Hammers
Makkinga Contracting was one of the first companies in Northwestern Ontario to own and operate hydraulic hammers for rock breaking and concrete removal. These hammers are used with hydraulic excavators and are available for rentals with operators. We currently have over 6 hydraulic hammers with impact energies ranging from 3000 foot pounds to 7500 foot pounds.
Bulldozers
We have over 6 bulldozers available for rental with operators. Our smallest unit is a John Deere 350. We also have a D8R complete with a ripper attachment.
Front-end Loaders
Front-end loaders are available for rentals with operators. We own over 10 loaders with bucket sizes ranging from 3 to 8 cubic yards. Loaders are also available with forks, sweepers, and blades.
Graders
We currently own 3 graders. These units are used in the summer for our contracts and in the winter for snow removal. Our graders are available with cutting wheels, scarifiers and snow wings.
Specialty Equipment
Long Reach Excavator
Makkinga Contracting was the first company in Northwestern Ontario to purchase and operate a long reach excavator. We currently own one unit which has a reach of 65 feet. This unit is excellent for dredging, demolitions and a variety of other work.
Asphalt Zipper
Our asphalt zipper is operated on a front-end loader and is used to pulverize asphalt.
Brush Cutter
Our Denis hydro axe is powered by a 3400 Link-belt excavator. This machine is perfect for clearing land. Rentals are available for this unit by the hour or per hectare.
